Dear friends of Togo,
We are very appreciative of your kindness over the last couple of weeks. We learned that the loss of our best boy was also felt at a deep level by many of you.
And we also heard your grief in the loss of your own dogs and cats. We grieve with you, whether it was in recent weeks or years ago. God gave us special friends who will always be remembered. Blessings on you and your memories of these beautiful creatures. And lots of love to those pets who are now gracing your homes.
Togo was our muse — a source of inspiration. He guided us in setting our daily schedules, encouraging us to walk, to play tug-of-war, to give chase, and to dearly appreciate sloppy kisses and playful nudges. He understood us and he protected us — even a few times when we didn’t need protecting.
Mostly, Togo made us laugh and helped us love. He helped us understand God’s love and encouraged us to share his stories.
At this point, we aren’t sure what will happen here at togo.substack.com or when or if we will publish again. As we said our goodbyes, we assured Togo that he had finished his mission here and he could make his way to heaven knowing that he had done well.
Some of you who met Togo a little later in his story-telling career asked that the site be kept available. For now, we’re leaving everything intact. So feel free to revisit any and all of the posts. We’ll probably take some time before we try to publish on this site again, if we do. But you might want to leave your subscription in place for notes along the way from Casa de Togo.
Togo had a great life. He certainly made our lives better. And we sincerely hope that, in some way, Togo added to your life, too.
Thanks again for all the love!
We love you,
Nancy and Joey Cope, aka “Momma” and “Daddy”
Thanks, Joey. I still have not read the last two stories. I never met Togo but his papa knew him very well. His papa's wise words were very helpful in our daily lives. I have Kissie, who is 14.6 and we will walk this valley in the near future. Togo helped me be a better mom to her. Blessings..
Very touching and heartwarming! Somehow I think there’s a little Togo in our dog Cheyenne. He certainly reminds me of Togo.
Blessings to you!
