I’m no stranger to blame.
Any time something gets chewed up or dug up or buried, I’ve come to expect that fingers will be pointed at me. It’s an occupational hazard when you’re a dog. And also when most of the chewing, digging, and burying is done by me, it also makes sense and feels somewhat acceptable.
Yes, I’ve chewed up many a shrub and barbecue grill and glove and cabinet door and squeaky toy and, yes, even the wiring to the air conditioner. Daddy wasn’t pleased about any of those things, but he agrees with me that those things aren’t horrible. Annoying, sometimes expensive, but not horrible. I do accept responsibility for what I do.
That’s why I’m sick and tired of humans who won’t accept responsibility for horrible things they do. And although I’m not very happy when Daddy neglects to fill my treat pouch before we leave on a walk, that’s not the horrible type of thing I’m talking about.
I am talking about horrible things like turning a blind eye to mass shootings. Like saying stupid things like “Guns don’t kill people!” when we all know that they do.
It’s time to say “No more!”
If we don’t make it end, then we are to blame, too. Actually, I’m just a dog, so this is squarely in your court.
Don’t vote for people who take money from gun lobbies. Pass responsible gun laws. Even in its current, messed-up reading, the Second Amendment isn’t intended to protect the profits of an industry that puts weapons of war in the hands of criminals and unbalanced individuals who are killing the innocent. Guns aren’t the antidote for our fears. They are the cause of our fears and the loss of our children.
I repeat. I’m just a dog. But even I can see that I’m not the crazy one. Take responsibility.
Togo, you and I think a lot alike. Thank you!
absolutely agree! It should not be that easy for an 18yo to get anything more than maybe a handgun... maybe... but we do need smarter gun laws... Good insight Togo!
