I like to watch TV.
It’s not like I spend a lot of time in front of the television. I just catch snippets of the news with Lester Holt and some movies when I come inside some evenings. Oh, and game shows. I find the word games challenging, although the contestants and the game show hosts are a little silly.
Ah, but the movies . . .
I think I could make it as a movie star. I have all of the right stuff — good looks, the ability to provide witty banter, and a rugged machismo that begs for action. Oh, and a really soft heart. Plus, I’ll work for belly scratches and doggie treats.
Daddy says that I have to be discovered if I’m going to be a star. And that I’ll have to work hard if I am. I’ve told Daddy that he can’t fool me. I know the studio will hire stunt doubles to do the tough stuff.
But I took to heart the “getting discovered” part. Daddy and I walk up to the local college campus three or four times a week. I always insist that we walk by the performing arts center. I figure that one of those days, a director or casting agent will get one look at me and BAM, I’m in.
In the meantime, I’ve been getting a portfolio of pictures together showing me in leading roles in a variety of motion pictures. For example, here is a reenactment from the 1992 film, Shadow of the Wolf. In case you can’t tell this from a real movie set still shot, this is me casting a shadow on the side of the afore-mentioned performing arts center. Poetic portrayal, don’t you think?
So far, I haven’t had any luck at this location. Apparently, artistic-type people don’t really show up at sunrise all that often. And that’s my preferred walk time. And apparently, this Shadow of the Wolf movie was a bit of a stinker. So I’m working hard to create ties to other, more popular films.
Before you ask, yes, I know that there is a movie called Togo. And yes, I know that it is based on the real-life story of Togo, the legendary sled dog. I know that because Momma and Daddy picked out my name after doing some research on famous hero dogs. That’s why I’m a good-looking, witty, rugged hero dog.
I originally wasn’t out to capitalize on all of that. But Daddy did help me with a picture.
His hat is all wrong and he’s too short, but we got pretty close. I think that the downside is that Disney already did a great job with this movie and so no one is trying to cast a remake right now.
Because I have a bit of grey wolf in me, the werewolf genre seemed to be a natural. I called Daddy out to take this picture one night when the moon was particularly bright. Daddy called the picture “Under the Togo Moon.” I think it could be my break into the Twilight series. Daddy says there are also elements of The Blair Witch Project. Personally, I like werewolves better than witches. Mainly because witches seem preoccupied with black cats.
Again, no luck or calls from any agents.
I do have an appreciation for Disney Studios. And I got to thinking that perhaps I could be cast in a cross-species film. You know, one where I act like another species even though I’m really a dog with a little bit of wolf in him. With the right lighting and camera angles, it could work. With that in mind, I present . . .
Togo, starring as Bambi.
Think about it. And call Disney. I’ll have Daddy sitting by the phone.
Better get an agent. You're gonna be a star dahlin'.
Togo, the problem might be that Daddy is taking your calls; perhaps he is screening out the really good offers.
