I know what you’re thinking. There’s no way that Mia could have been around for fifty years. You’re exactly right.1
However, Momma and Daddy have been together for 50 years as of August 3, 2024!
Feel free to applaud and utter congratulatory phrases.
More specifically, they were married on August 3, 1974. They’ve actually been going steady since their sophomore year in high school when they were 15 years old!
That year, they were assigned seats in Mrs. Alexander’s English class right across from each other. Daddy’s heart was pretty much taken by Momma at that moment. He was able to get Momma’s attention at some point that semester. I’m not sure whether that was favorable attention or not. But it seems to have worked out in the long run.
Usually when people are telling stories, they say, “And the rest is history!” That’s true. But it’s a pretty short summary. I’ve only known them since April 8 of this year, so I don’t have firsthand knowledge. Just suffice it to say that they’ve done a lot of stuff, had really good times, some hard times, and now, looking back, have trouble remembering the hard.
They have been blessed with two boys, their families (including a beautiful granddaughter and a handsome grandson), and, of course, numerous dogs through the years. I’m the latest and I’m doing my best to keep life interesting and to keep them active. Daddy seems to withstand the glancing blows I deliver when I’m zooming around the backyard and Momma is smart enough to get out of the way.
Fifty years seems like a long time. Daddy must have been pretty old when they married and Momma must have been very young — at least if you’re going by the way they look now.

Regardless, this is a Casa de Togo milestone and I thought you’d want to know.
Happy 50th Anniversary, Momma and Daddy!
Although if we got into the lore and magic of spirit dogs, I think I could make a strong case that I was around for thousands of years in one form or another.
Mia, I think this deal about Mommy and Daddy is a big deal, so tomorrow I will think of blessings for them. I knew Daddy before they got hitched, even though he was already twitterpated. What you didn’t know is that today, August 2, is Linda’s and my 56th anniversary. I’ve been twitterpated longer than your Daddy, that happening just after dirt was invented.
Checkered pants. Bowl haircut. Groovy.
