Togo Goes Product Reviewing: The Portable Drinking Fountain
With my status as an international dog of renown, I am constantly being asked to endorse products of various kinds. Not wanting to sully my reputation with any scandal like Tom Brady faced with his cryptocurrency commercial, I have decided to express a few unsolicited and free opinions about products that I already own — or would like to own.1
I’m not going to use any brand names since I’m not getting any compensation. But I will try to have a few photos and I’ll provide my comments, both pro and con, on general features.
One big problem for all creatures, great and small, is hydration. I drink a lot of water. And recently, due to some necessary medication, I drink a whole lot more.2
This is not a significant problem when I’m home. Daddy keeps two large bowls of fresh water available on the porch for me at all times. And Momma has a special bowl for me inside sitting on a rug that soaks up any water that escapes my mouth. That happens more than you would think when I’m really thirsty and lapping up water at a high rate of speed. Momma’s water is always better than Daddy’s because she slips ice cubes in on a regular basis.
But drinking lots of water when I’m away from home is a critical need on our extra-hot West Texas days. This summer, it was really hot even on our early morning walks.
Daddy was right on top of this. He considered carrying a portable water bowl and a bottle of water. That, however, proved to be a little bulky. So he went to searching on the interweb and found this handy water bottle with a portable drinking bowl right on the top!
It’s relatively easy to use. Just screw off the top and fill it with water! Then, when it’s time for liquid refreshment, turn the bottle on its side and press the button. Water flows into the tongue-shaped bowl. Delicious!
Togo’s Independent Product Review
I have found this item to be a good solution to the problem of getting a drink of water on a walk. It provides a clean supply of water with little hassle. In fact, no hassle at all for me. The wide mouth opening allows the insertion of ice cubes for a cool drink.
Daddy likes the way that it allows you to drain unused water back into the bottle. That sometimes happens when I change my mind about getting a drink.3 I say “sometimes” because Daddy often forgets to drain the water back in which explains most of the water spots all over his jeans.
Daddy retrofitted our bottle with a wider strap to make it easier to carry. He has found that he can handle it and my leash in one hand with little trouble — except when he gets the leash wrapped around it in an awkward way. The good news is that Daddy often finds himself in awkward situations and is able to extricate himself pretty quickly.
The only complaint I have about the product is the size of the little bowl. As you can see from this manufacturer photo, it works great for a little dog. But when you’re a big guy like me, that little bowl is only good for one or two slurps before having to be refilled. However, that cost this product only one star.
